June 12, 2012 ~~~ Ok, just for Bonnie (and the rest of you) we'll see how this works!  I MAY have figured out how to get the newest post on TOP so you don't have to scroll through a month's worth of postings... maybe.  :-)  Also may have figured out how to allow "comments".  Be nice.

So... Tuesday morning we rolled out to Richmond, 45 miles from camp, to drop Darrell off at the State Library to do genealogy research and I would go out to lunch with Melissa Sellers.

We found the State Library in downtown Richmond.... but circled the building for 25 minutes looking for a parking spot.  Finally found a teeny little parking lot and paid $20.00 for 4 hours!!  Owwwwwww!!!  I texted Melissa where to find me and sat on a bench to wait for her and Darrell toddled off to the library a block away.  Oops... 15 minutes later I see Darrell coming back up the street!  Guess what?  The library is CLOSED today!

In the meanwhile we had chatted with a line of people who were also paying for a parking pass who were going to a college graduation nearby.  So... we gave our parking pass to a lady  who was waiting in line to pay (she was stunned!) and followed Melissa for what seemed like about 100 miles through and out of downtown ... to a really nice Italian restaurant and had a fabulous lunch while we caught up on her life and ours!  Thank you Melissa!

Now don't be all judgmental re how we look ... I had been caught in the rain AND wind, and Melissa had worked all night and stayed up to meet with us!  She was very reluctant to have her photo take, but we talked her into it.  Thanks again Melissa... we enjoyed seeing you and doing some "catch up"!

It started to rain as we left the restaurant.  We found a historical genealogy library as we were leaving Richmond, so we went in there for a few hours.  Found some Francis family, but not the one we've been looking for, and Darrell found a couple tidbits on his Thurman family too.  When we came out of the library and got back onto the freeway to go back to our RV park it began to rain again.... 80 degrees and raining.  Whew... that's SAUNA like!

Before we got back to camp it was a DELUGE... rush hour traffic, bumper to bumper, and moving 20 mph or less!  With the amount of water dumping on us, bouncing off the pavement and other vehicles it was difficult to even see the road if we went any faster.  I've never seen water from the sky like that, EVER!  It was like Someone was up there dumping water from a bathtub on us!

Tomorrow... hopefully the weather will cooperate... we will go to Virginia Beach and over/through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.  21 miles.  Kinda nervous about that.  :-}
